Seattle University’s Graduate Certificate of Fundraising Leadership equips you to conquer the challenges of generating support in an increasingly complex nonprofit environment.
Curious about fundraising as a career? Want to expand your professional skill set or provide resources to fuel your mission? The 15-credit program -designed for working professionals – builds on leadership while providing essential skills. Emphasis on reflective practice, leadership and promoting social justice provides the essential difference between a good fundraiser – and a great one.
Students in the certificate program can look forward to gaining essential skills:
- Instilling and leading a culture of philanthropy;
- Executing successful campaigns that provide resources while engaging stakeholders;
- Building and diversifying your fundraising team;

Our specialized curriculum, the first of its kind in Washington State, meets the growing demand for effective fundraisers and makes high quality fundraising education accessible across the region.
15 credits. Students can complete the program in 9 months.
Online/On-campus model: students attend classes on campus 3 Saturdays each quarter.
Approaches resource development through the lenses of leadership, diversity, ethics, and social justice, with the goal of empowering leaders to build a more just and humane world.

The Certificate in Fundraising Leadership is affiliated with the Master of Nonprofit Leadership program, and students completing the certificate program may apply 9 credits toward the master’s degree.
Students also receive the continuing education credits and preparation for the Association of Fundraising Professional’s widely-recognized Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.
