About this Course

Synthesis and application of theory and research to effectively implement advanced midwifery intrapartum care. Focus is on comprehensive interprofessional team participation and management of intrapartum and immediate postpartum care for women with normal births and common medical, surgical and obstetrics complications across settings. Development and evaluation of evidence-based care approaches will be incorporated. Synthesis of evidence-based evaluation and management of the immediate care of the newborn included. Students will examine and articulate roles critically evaluate the impact of contextual factors on health care services with emphasis on vulnerable people and both local and global health settings. Registration restrictions may be bypassed by the department with permission of instructor.
