Educational Leadership Doctoral Program

If you are applying for a needs-based scholarship, remember to file a FAFSA in order to determine your eligibility. 

Dorothy Krueger Endowed Scholarship

Created with a bequest from EDLR alumna Dorothy Ann Krueger, EdD, this endowed scholarship funds two awards each year to continuing students in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program based on their financial need, academic excellence and potential contribution to the field.

Amount Awarded: $750 - $3,500
Duration: One year
Application Deadline: Please check back.

Criteria for Selection

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must:

  • Be enrolled as a continuing student in a leadership program at the College of Education
  • Demonstrate academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and a commitment to service leadership as assessed by the faculty
  • Demonstrate financial need

How to Apply

Complete the Scholarship application by the deadline when it is emailed to your SU email address with:  a) a brief statement that confirms you have submitted the FAFSA and b) a paragraph of 300 words or less that describes why you believe you are deserving of the scholarship based on the criteria for selection. Letters are reviewed by all EDLR faculty.

 

John Morford Leadership Endowment Fund

Dr. John Morford was the founder and the director of the Education Leadership Doctoral program for many years.  Because of the high esteem in which he is held, a group of alumni and friends of the College of Education came together to establish the John Morford Leadership Endowment fund.  The fund provides important scholarship funding to first year EDLR students.

Amount Awarded: $750 - $3,500
Duration: One year

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must:

  • Be enrolled as a new EDLR applicants in the College of Education, awarded to first year students only.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and a commitment to service leadership as assessed by the faculty
  • Demonstrate financial need

Roy Wahle Endowed Scholarship

Created with a bequest from EDLR alumna Kristine D. Sullivan, EdD and the family of Dr. Roy Wahle in his honor, this endowed scholarship funds one or more awards each year to outstanding students at the end of his/her third year in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program based on their financial need, academic excellence and potential contribution to the field.

Amount Awarded: $500 - $3,500
Duration: One year

Criteria for Selection

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must:

  • Be enrolled as a continuing student in a leadership program at the College of Education
  • Must be enrolled in at least 9 credits during the academic year and summer
  • Have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must be at end of third year of the program
  • Must exemplify the qualities of effective leadership for an interdependent world
