External Scholarships for Out-of-State Residents

If you are applying for a needs-based scholarship, remember to file a FAFSA in order to determine your eligibility. 

Bush Foundation Leadership Fellows

The Bush Foundation seeks residents of Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dokota with passion, optimism and ambition who:

  • Have distinguished records of accomplishment;
  • Have a vision for contributing to the common good within the Bush Foundation region;
  • Are committed to working with others to make that vision a reality; and
  • Are committed to acquiring the necessary knowledge and developing the skills and personal attributes to be successful in that work.

Application Deadline: Applications accepted August 30 - September 29, 2016.

Criteria for Selection:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be at least 24 years old at the time of the application deadline.
  • Must have lived for one continuous year immediately prior to the application deadline in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or one of the 23 sovereign nations that shares the same geographic area with these states.

Jewish Vocational Service (JVS): Jewish Community Scholarship Fund

Amount Awarded: $2,000-$5,000 annual award, may reapply each year.

Application Deadline: March 31, 2016

Criteria for Selection:

  • Must be Jewish
  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • Permanent and legal resident of Los Angeles County - for a minimum of three years
  • U.S. citizen or documented legal permanent U.S. resident (green card)
  • Planning to attend an accredited public or private college, university or vocational school in the U.S.
  • Planning to enroll full-time (minimum 12 units per term)
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA for graduate students for every semester or quarter enrolled.
  • Demonstrated and verifiable financial need including FAFSA (student aid report)
