Seattle University athletics are an important part of Seattle U’s mission to educate the whole person, to professional formation, and to empowering leaders for a just and humane world. By recently moving back to Division I competition, we are committed to creating a better athletic experience for our student-athletes. The move signaled a return to the big leagues of intercollegiate play and elevates the status of our athletics to match academics.

The transition from Division II to Division I—the highest level in NCAA action—involved all aspects of athletics, from basketball and softball to track and field, tennis and volleyball. In returning to Division I competition Seattle University is committed to providing an exciting, spirited source of campus pride for our students, alumni and the community -- as well as a competitive and well-balanced environment for our student athletes. The move to Division I is an effort to bring Seattle University's athletics to the same level of excellence as our academic programs.
