Welcome to Seattle University! All new first-year students participate in our "Summer in Seattle" Orientation and Welcome Week to launch their educational careers at Seattle University. During Orientation, you will receive your first quarter class schedule, meet your Orientation Advisor, find out how to get involved on campus, learn about the special nature of a Jesuit education, meet your classmates and current students, and HAVE FUN!
Parents are not required to attend Orientation. However, about half of new students bring at least one family member or other guest with them. Parents typically feel much more confident in sending their student off to school in the fall having learned more about the resources and programs here on campus. Especially if this is your first child to go off to college, you would find the program really helpful.
During Orientation, students and families are together for some sessions, but then break out into sessions specific to new students or to families. Some of the key information we cover includes:
Check-in for Summer in Seattle begins at 10:00 a.m. on the ground floor of the Student Center. For more details about the program, please consult the Summer in Seattle schedule.
All first-year students are expected to attend Summer in Seattle Orientation. International students, students who will be out of the country in July, and those for whom travel to Seattle would pose a significant financial hardship should contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to describe their circumstances. We will provide information about September Orientation, a make-up session to be held prior to the start of the fall quarter on September 19. You are, however, still expected to complete the Canvas Course as soon as possible.

Check-in for all sessions begins at 10:00 a.m. on Day 1 on the ground floor of the Student Center. All sessions end at 3:30 p.m. on Day 2.
**Orientation for first-year students from Hawaiian and other Pacific Islands will take place at the Punahou Case Middle School in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Saturday, July 27. Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. and the session will end at 5:00 p.m.
