Master of Arts in Transforming Spirituality

72 credits, 3 years

The Master of Arts in Transforming Spirituality (MATS) degree balances the Christian tradition and the student’s specific faith tradition, with an openness to the wisdom of the world’s spiritual beliefs and practices. The degree prepares students for leadership in diverse spiritual and religious contexts. Within ecumenical and interfaith communities, students explore spiritual resources and practices to understand contemporary expressions of spirituality in religion and culture. Students choose between two tracks: Studies in Spirituality and Spiritual Direction.

Degree Options

Studies in Spirituality SpecializationStudents take courses in spirituality, theology and psycho-spiritual development and choose elective classes that will enhance their vocational and ministerial goals.

Spiritual Direction SpecializationStudents explore the history of spiritual practices, learn how to facilitate retreats and develop skills for spiritual companionship.
