Extended Visits

If you have the time to stay awhile, you can live as a Redhawk for a day! In an extended visit, you

  • Meet with a faculty member or advisor one-on-one in your area of study,
  • Sit in on a class related to your major,
  • Take a student-led campus tour, and
  • Meet with an admissions counselor or hear an Admissions presentation.

After you submit your request, our Redhawk Ambassadors will personally coordinate the details of your visit and make your campus arrangements. Your Ambassador will follow up to let you know they are arranging your personalized schedule and send your itinerary before you arrive.

Extended visits are offered during the school year between October and May. Please note that, in order to arrange your personalized experience, extended visits requests must be made two weeks prior to the date of your visit. Correspondence will be sent via email. Extended visits are not available during the summer as we are not able to offer faculty meetings or class visits.

Scheduling an Extended Visit

While we make every effort to work with your schedule, Extended Visits generally require guests to be available from approximately 9 AM - 3 PM. Check your email after your requesting your Extended Visit; our Redhawk Ambassadors will be getting in touch with you regarding your schedule.

Classroom Extended Visits

Try to arrive at the Admissions and Alumni Building (marked ADAL on the campus map) 15 minutes prior to your first appointment. If shadowing a class, arrive a few minutes early to introduce yourself to the professor and ask what will be covered in that day's class. Faculty request that only incoming students shadow classes. When shadowing a classroom, please turn off electronic devices and be respectful of the professor and SU students in the class. We recommend you stay for the duration of the class; however, if you need to leave early, plan to sit close to the door.
