Krysta Walia graduated from the University of Washington with a Masters of Social Work degree in 2015, with an emphasis in Community Centered Integrative Practice. Her research focused on participatory methods of dialogic engagement utilizing intergroup dialogue methodology, community asset mapping, and inclusive group practices. Krysta then graduated in 2016 with a Masters of Arts in South Asian studies. Her thesis centered on bridging the gap between social work praxis and Punjabi and Sikh populations in the United States.

In 2015, she received the Foreign Language Areas Studies fellowship; a prestigious, national award, which provides students support in developing fluency in less commonly taught languages and expertise in the regions in which these languages are spoken. Krysta is currently a tenured faculty counselor at Seattle Central College where she engages students in holistic healing through direct practice work and teaching Human Development Courses. Healing centered resiliency, embodied liberation, and solution focused practice are core values she encourages students to engage in, as a part of their educational and personal experiences.
