SU Faculty-Led, Exchanges, and Sponsored Programs allow full financial aid portability of all SU institutional grants and/or scholarships, state and federal aid and most external scholarships. Often, study abroad locations allow you to save money because many international locations have a lower cost of living than Seattle.
In addition, INST awards 1-3 departmental scholarships, and many of our students have been awarded national scholarships to fund their study abroad. Learn more about their stories on our scholarships page.
Yes. Working with your INST adviser and the Education Abroad Office, in most cases you will be able to plan your schedule to graduate on time.
Yes. As part of the planning process with your INST advisor and the Education Abroad office, your courses taken abroad will usually count toward your major and graduation requirements.
The program duration can be a full academic year, one or two quarters, or a short term session such as those listed here .
The International Studies major includes a learning program in a country outside of the US for one or more academic terms. You have many countries to choose from, with professional support and guidance from our Education Abroad Office.

You select from a wide offering of courses on the society of your host country abroad and apply the credits to your SU degree requirements.
