Practicum

Overview

The Seattle University Master of Nonprofit Leadership (MNPL) program offers a practicum for graduate students during their second year of studies.  The MNPL practicum is designed to (1) support nonprofit organizations in select areas of nonprofit leadership and management, where students work to assess current strategies and make recommendations, and (2) allow our graduate students to apply their education and develop their nonprofit leadership skills through practical application.

Each fall, we seek regional nonprofits that are interested in a student providing analysis and recommendations in one of the following areas:

  • board governance
  • finance
  • fundraising
  • marketing/communications
  • program evaluation
  • advocacy
  • diversity and equity
  • strategic planning

Once matched, individual students are available to work with an organization for 3 to 5 hours a week from December through March.  Under the supervision of our faculty, the students conduct assessments, analyze opportunities, and deliver implementation-ready recommendations to the organization.

We are not accepting applications for the Nonprofit Leadership Practicum in 2023-24.

The Nonprofit Leadership program is evaluating the curriculum and exploring a variety of community-engaged learning options. Please check back in Spring of 2024 for updates.
