Ethics Minor

Based in Philosophy, the interdisciplinary Ethics minor provides a concentrated study of ethical theory and practice. The courses in the minor

• explore and rigorously debate persistent fundamental questions concerning right and wrong, justice, fairness, equality, obligation, and virtue;
• promote a sophisticated understanding of the diversity of moral theories and their applications in concrete situations;
• engage questions about how moral principles can be translated into law and public policy in a pluralistic world.

The Ethics minor affords a great deal of flexibility and is a wonderful complement to any major. Because of its interdisciplinary character, you might find that courses that you have already taken in the Core or your major will also count toward the minor.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to earn a minor in Ethics, students must complete 30 credits with a grade point average of 2.0 including:  five credits from the Ethics core, 10-15 credits from Philosophical Perspectives and 10-15 credits from Interdisciplinary Perspectives.
