Program Summary

In order to earn a Minor in Writing Studies, students must complete 30 credits, with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00, from the following:

Required Courses (10 cr.):

  • ENGL 2135   Punctuation/Grammar (2 cr)
  • ENGL 2138 Writing, Editing, and Style (3 cr)
  • ENGL 3040  Advanced Writing: Argumentation (5 cr)

Choose 20 credits from the following:

  • ENGL 3014 U.S. Multiethnic Literatures in Context
  • ENGL 3050  Composition Theory and Practice
  • ENGL 3080 History of the English Language
  • ENGL 3090 Tutoring  Writing
  • ENGL 3100 Writing Workshop in Ireland
  • ENGL 3110 Writing Non-Fiction
  • ENGL 3120 Writing the Personal Essay
  • ENGL 3170 Travel Writing: Stories Near and Far
  • ENGL 3840 Ecocriticism
  • ENGL 3910 Special Topics
  • ENGL 4720 Writing Resistance
  • ENGL 4810 The History of Narrative from Homer to Hypertext
  • ENGL 4950 Internship
