Do I need an undergraduate degree in business to participate in the Bridge MBA Program?

No. In fact, the Bridge Program is only available for students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business.

Can I apply to the Bridge MBA program if I have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration or a 3-year degree in Commerce (international students)?

No. The Bridge Program only accepts students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business. If you have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, a 3-year degree in Commerce (international students), or more than three years of professional work experience, we suggest you consider one of Seattle University’s other graduate business degrees which may better fit your needs and qualifications.

Will I earn an MBA in the Bridge Program?

Yes. After completing the one-year, Bridge MBA program, you will receive your MBA. The Bridge MBA program at Seattle University is an accredited MBA program and the degree awarded is equivalent to other MBA degrees. Your diploma will read:  Bridge Master in Business Administration. How long will it take me to complete the Bridge MBA Program?

The Bridge MBA program takes one year (four quarters) to complete. It begins in fall quarter and ends at the conclusion of summer quarter the following year.

Can I start the program in any quarter?

No. The Bridge MBA Program is a one year, cohort program. It is four quarters in length and begins in the fall quarter only.

Do I need any work experience?

No. The Bridge Program is specifically designed for students with less than two years of professional working experience.

Can I apply to the Bridge MBA program if I have several years of work experience?

If you have more than three years of professional work experience, we suggest you consider one of Seattle University’s other graduate business degrees which may better fit your needs and qualifications.

What does it mean to be a cohort program?

The Bridge MBA is a lock-step, cohort program, meaning that you and your classmates will begin the program together in the Fall, attend all of your classes and participate in the co-curricular activities together throughout the year, and all graduate together at the end of the program.

How large is the cohort?

The Bridge MBA cohort typically averages 25-30 students per year.

How many credits are in the Bridge MBA program? Can I waive any?

The Bridge MBA program is comprised of 48 credits. We do not offer waivers. More information about curriculum can be found on the Curriculum & Degree Requirements page.

Does Seattle University accept transfer credits?

No transfer credits are accepted towards the Bridge MBA.

Is the Bridge MBA a STEM program?

No, the Bridge MBA is not a STEM program.

Can I observe a class?

Yes, the Graduate Admissions staff would be happy to arrange for you to attend a class. Please see Observe a Class for more information and then contact us at albersgradinfo@seattleu.edu at least one week prior to your desired date so that we may make arrangements for you.

Applying to the Bridge MBA

How do I apply?

What are the application deadlines?

Can I apply at any time?

Yes, you can submit your application at any time, up until the final application deadline. More information is available on the Bridge MBA Admissions page.

After I have submitted my application, when can I expect to receive a decision?

Completed applications generally take three to four weeks to be evaluated and reviewed by the department. When a decision has been made, a notification will be sent via email asking you to check your application portal. You can check the status of your application at any time on the Graduate Admissions website.

Are there any prerequisites required for admission?

There are no specific courses required for admission. Depending on undergraduate coursework, newly admitted students may be asked to complete online, preparatory work before the start of the program. Information on preparatory work can be found on the Curriculum & Degree Requirements page, and individual requirements will be included in offer of admissions letters.

Do I need to take the GMAT or the GRE to be accepted into the Bridge MBA program?

The GMAT and the GRE are optional for anyone applying for the 2022-2023 academic year. Applicants are still encouraged to submit a GMAT or GRE when possible. Choosing to include a GMAT or GRE score can make your application more competitive and give the admissions team more information about you. Albers does retain the right to recommend submitting a GMAT or GRE score to assist in the admissions decision process on a case-by-case basis.

As an international student, do I need to take the TOEFL or IELTS?

Is an interview required?

Yes, an interview with the Program Director is required. This is the last step in the review of your application. You will be contacted by admissions to schedule an interview. Interviews are either in person when possible or conducted via Zoom and typically last less than one hour.

What does the admissions committee look for when evaluating my application?

Each applicant is viewed holistically. The admissions committee assesses each application individually, looking for students who have the desire, motivation, prior academic success, and maturity to be successful in the program. As the Bridge MBA program is a cohort program, they look for individuals who can work collaboratively and contribution to a positive learning environment. Applications are carefully evaluated based on a combination of the essay submitted, prior academic performance, accomplishments, work experience (when applicable), letters of recommendation, and GMAT/GRE scores (when available).

Do I need to submit my application documents in one package?

The only document that needs to be mailed is your transcript. All other documents must be submitted online.

Yes, you will need to open a separate application to apply for the Bridge MBA scholarship. Please note: Applications for the Bridge MBA scholarship will only be accepted during Rounds 1 and 2 of Admission deadlines. Student Life

What classes will I take?

When will I attend classes?

Fall, Winter and Spring quarters you will attend classes Monday-Thursday from 9 - 11:40 a.m., with various extra-curricular activities to attend in the afternoons or on Fridays. During summer quarter, classes are switched to the evenings, from 5:30 - 8:40 p.m., so that students can participate in internships during the day. To complete the Bridge MBA program, are there other requirements in addition to the classes?

Yes. Designed specifically for individuals who are early in their careers, the Bridge MBA includes a year-long program of co-curricular activities. Required activities include a week-long orientation before the start of Fall quarter, participation in career development seminars and placement center activities to help with career planning, attendance of the Executive Speaker Series, a mentor program, and completion of an internship. Can I work and attend the Bridge MBA program at the same time?

Students often choose to work part-time during the program. The Bridge MBA program is a rigorous, accelerated, full-time MBA program, however, and working full-time while going to school is not recommended.

What housing options are available for graduate students?
