Our Approach

The distinctive curriculum aims to develop business acumen in concert with leadership skills highly sought after by employers. Deep learning in these areas sets apart our MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management at Seattle University. Our curriculum is built on the key skills and content knowledge that sport industry professionals, sport and entertainment management academic leaders, and our alumni told us was important.

Inclusive excellence is a cornerstone of our MBA in sport. We believe in the power of diversity to enrich learning. Our vision aligns with the sport industry’s renewed commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. We are committed to creating a highly diverse and inclusive community.

Your Immersion Experience

We are a cohort-based sport management program where you will have peers from diverse backgrounds, who bring a wide array of perspectives and experiences to our learning. We strive to build an authentic community of learners that attends to the ‘whole person’ where we help one another and work together to grow professionally and personally.

During your first year, you will be integrated into six MBA courses and learn alongside professionals from the greater business community. In addition, you will maintain contact with your sport and entertainment management cohort via four sport-specific courses. In the second year, you will focus on sport-specific content knowledge.

Our core sport and entertainment faculty work closely with sport industry professionals to bring timely, real-world challenges to the classroom. Many of our courses embed mini-consulting projects where we have asked the industry, ‘What’s a need you have, and how can we help?’ Other courses bring in sport industry experts to provide insights and feedback on smaller assignments. They are more than just guest lecturers, they are an integrated part of the curriculum.

Our deep connections to the sport industry also mean that you have access to sport executives throughout your two years. They are guest speakers, experienced and enthusiastic mentors, supportive alumni, and our Advisory Board. Sport and entertainment industry professionals are also integrated into our co-curricular Professional Development Program, which is designed to help you in your career aspirations and consists of the Mentor Program, ‘Career Path’ leadership development, and ‘Career Essentials’.

The highlight of your immersion experience is our Fellowship Program. In your second year, all students have the opportunity to be immersed in a Seattle sport or entertainment organization.
