Programs for Local Youth and Families

Get to know the variety of SUYI programs serving local youth and families from ages birth through high school and beyond

The Seattle University Youth Initiative (SUYI) Early Learning Program partners with families, teachers, administrators, care providers, and the community to collectively ensure children are ready to flourish in kindergarten and thrive in life.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community Corps members to serve preschool children in underserved communities. Our proven curriculum helps children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for kindergarten, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap.

The Family Engagement program focuses on the connection between home, school & community. We engage families who have youth enrolled in SUYI mentoring programs, and families with early learners by supporting educational kits, family leadership, connection events, and more.

Partnering with teachers, school administrators, and staff from local organizations, we provide Bailey Gatzert students and families with academic support and enrichment activities, including our after-school program Redhawk Academic & Mentoring Programming (RAMP) and in-classroom support.

Washington Middle School supports the Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program (RAMP) and one-on-one mentoring where students can find support in others to build, grow, and strengthen skills and relationships,  fostering academic achievement and social-emotional well-being, and introduce scholars to the Change Makers program.

The Change Makers Program is a community that supports the transition from middle school to high school, and from high school to post-secondary life, emphasizing academic support and personal awareness. All eligible Change Makers upon high school graduation will receive a four-year scholarship to attend Seattle University.
