Alternative Testing

• Log into your myDS profile.
• Click on “Alternative Testing” in the “My Accommodations” menu on the left.
• Select the class from the drop down menu.
  • If your class does not show, you cannot schedule. Your Professor did not submit the times, dates, and other key information for testing. If possible, prompt your Professor to submit the Alternative Testing Agreement via the link in your Faculty Notification Letter. Also, reach out to Testing Services.  
• Click on “View Alternative Testing Detail”. This is the Alternative Testing Agreement or proctoring rules with key test information from your professor. You must follow the Agreement when you schedule an exam.
• Review the Alternative Testing Detail.
  
  • If you see any conflicts with dates/times or any errors in the Testing Agreement, contact your professor for clarification or permission to test outside the Agreement.
  • You may proceed to scheduling when your request time and date matches your Professor’s Agreement or you have written permission from your professor for an exception.
• Click “Schedule an Exam” at the top of the Alternative Testing Agreement and complete the “Exam Detail”.
• The “Additional Note” section is where you inform Testing Services of your professor’s written permission for any exceptions to the Agreement. It also is a place for you to share additional information regarding the specifics of the test or needed accommodations. 
• Click “Add Exam Request” at the bottom.
• Complete a “Late Exam Request” if you schedule outside the required advance notification requirement

If you’ve scheduled an exam and realize that you have scheduled the wrong date, time, or if your Professor has changed the date/time of the exam, you can reschedule the exam through myDS.

• Log in to your myDS profile.
• On the left hand bar in the “My Accommodations” Menu, click on ‘Alternative Testing.’
• Find the exam request you wish to reschedule, click ‘Modify Request’ found on the right side of the request.
• Change the Request Type, the date, the time, or the requested services.
• Select a reason for modification from the drop down menu.
• Even if the request was previously approved, the modified request will need to be re-approved by a staff member.

• Log in to your myDS profile.
• After logging in, click on the “Alternative Testing” link in the “My Accommodations” menu on the left side of the screen.
• To cancel an exam, simply find the exam you wish to cancel (be sure to check the date and class to make sure you cancel the correct exam) then press the “Cancel Request” link to the right of the date and time.
• A warning asking you if you really want to cancel your exam will appear. To cancel, click on the “Cancel Request” button in the “Exam to be Canceled” box.

You are expected to:

• Review your Professor's Alternative Testing Agreement sometimes called "Alternative Exam Detail" in myDS before scheduling tests.
• Schedule your exams, quizzes, and finals on myDS, for the dates and times as approved by your Professor in the Alternative Testing Agreement.
• Obtain your Professor's written permission for scheduling exceptions.
• Schedule your tests in advance per Testing Services protocol.
• Arrive on time and begin testing at the scheduled time. Latecomers may lose test time.
• Educate yourself on approved testing tools and bring them day of test.
• Inform Testing Services at the time of scheduling of any required aids or technology.
• Monitor you own testing time. 
• Bring only approved materials, electronics, or academic aids into the testing space. 
• Identify to staff in advance of testing, times you may need access to unapproved electronics or aids.
• Be mindful of your fellow test takers by maintaining quiet in the testing space. 
• Be aware that cameras are operational and may be in effect on any given day.
• Follow Seattle University's Academic Integrity Policy.

Ear plugs, noise canceling headphones, and clocks are available on request. 

Students being proctored by Testing Services are held accountable to the standards outlined in Seattle University's Academic Integrity Policy. 

• If you are suspected of cheating, Testing Services will remove your test and end your testing time in myDS.
• Testing Services will contact your Professor immediately and follow up with a written report.
• Testing Services does not determine your academic outcome if you are suspected of cheating. This is done within the academic department. 
• However, violation of a Seattle University policy while testing may compromise your ability to test in the Testing Center in the future.
