Graduation and Certification

Washington ESA Residency Certification

The School Psychology Program prepares students for Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification as a school psychologist in K-12 settings. Persons serving as Educational Staff Associates in public schools hold Residency-level certificates authorized by the Washington State Board of Education. Seattle University recommends a student who has successfully completed an approved program to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction which issues the Residency ESA certificate.

For more information on ESA certification, visit the OSPI website or contact your advisor.

Comprehensive Exam

School Psychology students must pass the PRAXIS II Subject Test in School Psychology (test 0401) in order to graduate. The PRAXIS II is taken during the final year of a student's program. Find out more about the PRAXIS II.
