Henry Louie receives leadership award

Henry Louie, professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has received the Sigma Chi Fraternity’s Mark V. Anderson Character-in-Action Leadership Award for his work with KiloWatts for Humanity in Zambia.

A non-profit organization founded by Louie in partnership with Caritas Monze, KiloWatts for Humanity implemented a five-kilowatt solar energy kiosk in Kanchomba, Zambia. The electricity is being used to power a small shop, hair salon, barber shop and chicken incubator. Also installed was a one-kilowatt solar water pump.

Several Seattle University students, faculty and staff helped plan, design and raise funds for the energy kiosk. Read more at Sigma Chi.
