It was announced in February that Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J., will retire as president of Seattle University in June 2021. Following extensive consultation with the campus community the committee charged with leading the search for SU’s next president has developed a Leadership Profile.

As search committee co-chairs Betty Woods and John Vassall wrote to campus on May 5, “The Leadership Profile is a distillation of extensive input gathered over 11 facilitated listening sessions. One or both co-chairs attended all sessions, and all major constituents of the university community were involved including the Academic Assembly, Staff Council, deans, cabinet, regents, alumni and staff. Multiple sessions were held for faculty and trustees. Although there are two students on the Presidential Search Committee, the co-chairs recognize and regret that more students were not able to participate as originally scheduled. The Presidential Search Committee will work with the student government (SGSU and GSC) to encourage as much student participation as possible via the Share Your Feedback form on the Presidential Transition webpage.” (* An upcoming student listening session is being scheduled for later in May. Watch the Student Announcements for details.)
