2021 Summer Faculty Fellowship recipients named

The Summer Faculty Fellowship Program provides financial support for tenure-track or tenured faculty and full-time librarians who are involved in an active program of scholarship, including the scholarship of discovery, integration and application. The program’s goal is to support faculty efforts to build on previous scholarly or creative endeavors (e.g., for the writing of grant proposals) or to move projects in a new direction (providing the basis for future external support or publications). The following are the 2021 recipients and titles of their projects:

• Charisse Cowan Pitre, Ph.D. (College of Education) | “Collectivized Teacher-Led Spaces to Empower and Support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Educators”
• Rob Efird, Ph.D. (College of Arts & Sciences) | “Appreciation or Appropriation?: Indigenous Knowledge as a Resource for Environmental Education”
• Christie Eppler, Ph.D., LMFT (School of Theology & Ministry) | “Meaningful Experiences of Relations Teletherapists during the Coronavirus”
• Carlyn Ferrari, Ph.D. (College of Arts & Sciences) | “Black Environmental Imaginations”
• Stephen Luckey, Ph.D. (College of Science & Engineering) | “Impact of exercise on mitochondrial function in young and aged mice”
• Aditya Mishra, Ph.D. (College of Science & Engineering) | “Does renewable and energy storage integration green the electric grid?”
• Alic Shook, Ph.D., RN (College of Nursing) | “Stigma Power and Sickle Cell Disease”
• Aakanksha Sinha, Ph.D. (College of Arts & Sciences) | “Examining Inequities to Access to Food during COVID-19”
• Erin Vernon, Ph.D. (The Albers School of Business & Economics) | “Telehealth for Hospice Care: Implications for Racial/Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities”
