Student in the Quad for Involvement Fair

Dozens of student clubs and campus organizations come together for the Fall Involvement Fair.

Interested in joining a robotics club or the Society of Women Engineers? Maybe sports is your thing—how about the Golf Club or the Ultimate Disc Club? And if you are drawn to creative pursuits, whether it’s performance or visual arts or music, check out the Anime & Manga Club, DI Improv, student-led radio station KXSU or the SU Filmmaker’s Club.

These are but a few of the nearly 100 clubs—plus countless on- and off-campus partners and organizations—that will be part of the Fall Involvement Fair, hosted by the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), which takes over the Quad, 11 a.m.–2 p.m., on October 4.

“It’s one of the few campus-wide events where our student-centered club communities are highlighted and do a takeover of the Quad,” says Angel Asuncion-Reed, assistant director of clubs and leadership with the Center for Student Involvement. “The campus community will see where our students find their home on our campus. If home is where the heart is, the campus community will see, firsthand, how deeply true this is for our students who build and create communities of belonging with their clubs and organizations."

CSI hosts two Involvement Fairs each academic year, with the Fall event the largest and a smaller one exclusively for campus clubs and organizations in the Winter. This marks the first in-person fair since 2019, with two virtual affairs and a weeklong event last year to provide space and social distancing amid a spike in COVID cases.

What can new students or new members of the SU community expect from their first Involvement Fair? “That there are many ways to get involved—not just with clubs and organizations but also with the many campus partners and off-campus partners in the area,” says Asuncion-Reed.

Another reason to attend? Music from KXSU plus live performances from various clubs including the American Sign Language Club, Drumline, Hidaka Taiko and the United Filipino Club.
