With hundreds of Seattle U community members in attendance, Eduardo Peñalver throws out the first pitch at a Seattle Mariners game.

On August 8, more than 900 Seattle University students, alumni, staff, faculty and friends converged on T-Mobile Park to catch the Seattle Mariners take on East Coast rivals the New York Yankees and, notably, to celebrate President Eduardo Peñalver throwing out the first pitch. Presented by the Seattle University Alumni Association (SUAA), “SU Night at the Mariners” had Redhawks—including our very own Rudy hanging with the Mariners Moose—showing their pride for not only their school but also in support of President Peñalver, a diehard M’s fan, who mingled with the crowd following his momentous moment on the mound.

A few more notes from the night:

  • President Peñalver’s son Jai served as his dad’s catcher!
  • Rudy the Redhawk was on the scene at the pregame reception, located at the Rooftop Boardwalk, and on the field before the game.
  • Staff from the SUAA, Albers and GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) alumni board members visited with alumni and friends and their families throughout the evening.
