Spiritual Guidance

January 17, 2023

The winter series of virtual workshops is sponsored by the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement.

The Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) presents a series of workshops this winter around the theme of “The Art of Spiritual Direction: Foundations, Practice and Applications.”

The virtual workshops, facilitated by Carla Orlando, MEd, kick off January 19 with a focus on “Foundations” and will feature eight spiritual directors and educators. This event will be led by Faculty Emeritus Valerie Lesniak, PhD (Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry) and Kevin F. Burke, S.J., Professor of Theology at Regis University. Orlando is an educator, spiritual director, retreat facilitator and artist who teaches discernment, reflective writing and tools for contemplative prayer.

The second in the CEIE winter series, focused on “Practice,” is February 16 and will be led Tom Cashman, who helped design the Pastoral Leadership Program in the School of Theology and Ministry, Trung Pham, S.J., a Seattle-based artist and educator, and Jeanie Robinson, a graduate of the School of Theology and Ministry.

The three-part series concludes on March 16, with a focus on “Applications,” led by Leonetta Elaiho, a nonprofit leader who received the Sullivan Scholarship at Seattle University, Patty Repikoff, DMin, who serves as a Pastoral Advocate for Mission with Catholic Community Services, and Patrick Twohy, S.J., a respected elder in both Catholic and Native communities.
