All equipment is due on the date specified on the Rental Agreement Form (typically no later than Tuesday unless otherwise arranged) and must be returned to the Outdoor office during open hours on the due date. Anyone may return the equipment on the renter’s behalf.
If late, an immediate fee of $20 will be charged upon late return of any gear. For each additional day the gear is returned late, a $1 per day, per item fee will accrue. Example: For an item was due Monday but was returned Thursday.the fee would be $22
If any part of the equipment is damaged or lost that renders the item permanently unusable, the charge is equivalent to the replacement value of the entire item. If a part is broken or lost and can be replaced, the cost of the part will be assigned as a damage fee. Renters will be contacted within a week with the total fee amount. Fees must be paid within 5 business days or account holds will be placed.
People who return excessively dirty or wet equipment will be charged a cleaning fee appropriate to the offense. The cleaning fee will vary, up to a maximum charge of $20 per item. Renters are strongly encouraged to clean off and dry all rented equipment items.
If the renter has accrued late, damage/replacement or cleaning fees, that remain unpaid, a financial hold will be placed on their SU student account. Renters cannot register for classes until the hold is lifted from their account by means of paying the fee in full to The Outdoor Office.
