LTC Haley Middlebrook has served in numerous Army command and staff positions in the United States Army and overseas over the past 16 years as a Psychological Operations (PSYOP) officer. Her overseas assignments include deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as a rotation in support of US Embassy Jakarta.
LTC Middlebrook previously served as a PSYOP officer at the Company, Battalion (BN), Army Service Component Command and Joint Staff. She commanded a BN Headquarters Company as well as the Psychological Operations Qualification Course; served as the capabilities and development staff officer at 1st Special Forces Command; and served as a staff officer at the Joint Information Operations Warfare Center. In her last assignment, she served as an operations officer for Army North at Ft Sam Houston, TX conducting multiple operations supporting lead federal agencies and direct support to states for disaster response operations. She supported hurricane response, COVID-19 response, and Operation Allies Welcome.
LTC Middlebrook’s military education includes the Military Intelligence (MI) Officer Basic Course; MI Captain’s Career Course, Indonesian Language Course, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE-C), Psychological Operations Qualification Course, Jumpmaster Course, and Command and General Staff College.
LTC Middlebrook’s military awards and decorations include three awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, one Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
LTC Middlebrook and her husband Joshua have three children Aeneas (13), Amelia (10), and Adelaide (7).

Assistant Professor of Military Science

LTC Joshua Johnson is the Assistant Professor of Military Science, Battalion Executive Officer, Battalion Operations Officer, and the Instructor for MSIII Cadets. He commissioned through the ROTC program at Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In 2007, he branch-detailed as a Field Artillery Officer and served as a Platoon Leader for three years. He then transitioned to Military Intelligence in 2010 once promoted to Captain. LTC Johnson has served at all echelons from tactical to strategic over his 14 years of service including operational deployments tours to Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His hometown is Bremerton, WA and currently resides in Seattle with his wife.
Senior Military Science Instructor

Master Sergeant Wetzel assumed duties as the Senior Military Science Instructor on 10 February 2023. Master Sergeant Wetzel is a native of Media, PA. He entered the United States Army in March 2004. Master Sergeant Wetzel completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, KY where he graduated as an 19K M1 Abrams Armor Crewman.
MSG Wetzel has held numerous leadership positions to include Tank Gunner, Tank Commander, Section Leader, Recruiter, Company Master Gunner, Platoon Sergeant, Observer/Coach and Trainer, Task Force Operations Sergeant Major Trainer, Project Development NCO, and Troop First Sergeant. He has served in the 1st Brigade 25th Infantry Division, 3rd Brigade 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Brigade 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Recruiting Brigade, Operations Group National Training Center, and Maneuver Center of Excellence/United States Army Infantry School Capabilities Development Integration Directorate. His deployments include three tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom, One Rotation to South Korea, and One deployment to Europe in Support of our NATO Partners.
MSG Wetzel's military education includes Noncommissioned Officer Education System BLC, ALC, and SLC, Army Recruiter Course, O/CT Academy, Combat Capabilities Developer course, and various other professional development courses. He is a graduate of Class 005-15 Mobile Gun System Master Gunner Course.
Master Sergeant Wetzel’s awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Army Recruiter Silver Badge, and the Master Gunner Badge. He also has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Driver Master Badge Track, Driver Master Badge Wheeled, and various deployment and campaign ribbons.
MSG Wetzel is married to the former Amanda Michelle White of Archdale, North Carolina.
Sergeant First Class Romero, a native of Dexter, New Mexico, proudly assumed duties as a Military Science Instructor on 10 August 2023. His journey in the United States Army began in May 2008, and took place in Fort Knox, Kentucky where he graduated as an 19K M1 Abrams Armor Crewman.
Sergeant First Class Romero has held numerous leadership positions including Company First Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Recruiter, Tank Commander, Section Sergeant, Squad Leader, and Team Leader. He served in the 4th Brigade 1st Armored Division, 2nd Brigade 2nd Infantry Division, 1st Brigade 3rd Infantry Division, 4th Recruiting Brigade, and 2nd Brigade 1st Armored Division.
Sergeant First Class Romero’s deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, One deployment to Europe in Support of our NATO Partners, and Operation Enduring Freedom (Spartan Shield).

Shawn Dodge graduated from the University of Oregon in 2000 and received an Active-Duty Army commission from the ROTC program as an Armor Officer. As a branch detailed Officer, Shawn transitioned to Military Intelligence in 2004 after attending the Officer Transition Course in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. While serving in Washington, Shawn completed his MBA from Saint Martin’s University. In 2008, while serving as a Company Commander, Shawn was nominated and selected as the Army Athlete of the Year (distance running) which enabled him to represent the Army at numerous distance running events in the United States and abroad. Upon recommendation for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, he was nominated as the Brigade Deputy Commander for the 505th Military Intelligence Brigade (Theater), a brand-new Theater Intelligence Brigade supporting Army North and Northern Command, in Camp Bullis (San Antonio), TX. Shawn’s final military assignment was the Professor of Military Science at East Tennessee State University. In this role, Shawn was responsible for 125 Cadets on five college campuses in the tri-state region of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Shawn is married to Danielle Dodge and has three children. He is a resident of Bainbridge Island, WA.

Join us in welcoming Mr. Michael “Chi” Zarghami to the Brady Battalion's cadre team. Mr. Zarghami brings over two decades of experience (Active Duty and Department of the Army Civilian) to his new role as our Human Resource Assistant. Michael fell in love with Seattle a lifetime ago when he was stationed in, what was then, Fort Lewis as a Private. He always planned to come back to an area of the country that felt like home and now he has. He will make an immediate and positive impact on our program as he supports Cadet and Cadre actions. His lifetime of service continues with us.

Ms. Tomhave has served in various positions at Seattle University off and on for the past 10 years. She has worked in higher education for most of her career. She works part-time for Army ROTC in the mornings and part-time for the MA Psychology program in the afternoons where she is the Program Coordinator. She has lived in the Pacific Northwest since the early 1990s. She lives in Seattle with her husband and has two young adult sons. Diane loves to read, loves to travel and enjoys a good conversation.

Ms. Rose A. Zbiegien
In Memory
Ms. Rose first graduated Seattle University in 1992 and never left, as many staff and faculty fondly remember. She pursued multiple degrees over her time at the University and worked in most of the departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2016, she came out of retirement to work with the Military Science/ROTC program until her passing in 2018. During her two years with the Brady Battalion, she helped with everything from organizing events to offering advice and support to all the Cadets who came in. She filled the office with her laughter and her wit and is greatly missed. Ms. Rose is survived by her husband Mike and their three children and five grandchildren, and the Brady Battalion thanks them for sharing the wonderful Ms. Rose with us.
