Do second year Bannan Scholars need to re-apply?

No, returning scholars do not re-apply for the scholarship.  If you have actively participated in the Bannan Scholar Enrichment Program and maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 within a major in the College of Science & Engineering, you will be notified via email to complete a new contract.

Do my transcripts need to be official?

Non-SU transcripts must be official.  SU transcripts can be unofficial.

How do I submit SU transcripts?

Download your unofficial transcript on SU online and then submit via the online application.

How do I submit non-SU transcripts?

All non-SU transcripts must be submitted electronically to: catronc@seattleu.edu.  Most universities and colleges have the option for you to request official transcripts to be sent electronically.

I am technically a continuing student, but transferred fall quarter, do you need my transcripts from my previous college?

No, we do not need the official transcripts from the previous institution, because those transcripts have already been reviewed by the Registrar and the grades should be reflected on your SU transcript.

How many letters of recommendation are required?

Only one letter of recommendation is required.

Who should I ask to write a letter of recommendation for me?

The Letter of recommendation is strongest when the writer knows about you and can speak to your personal qualities prompted by the letter request: 1) team-work, 2) leadership, 3) self-motivation, 4) scholarship, and 5) likelihood of active participation in a scholarship enrichment program.

Fill out the students release form and submit to your recommender. Please advise your recommender to submit the release form via email to catronc@seattleu.edu, along with your letter of recommendation.

How do I know if I am considered junior or senior standing?

In order to be considered a junior or senior, you must be eligible to take junior or senior level courses in your major. 

Can I still apply for the Bannan Scholarship if my tuition is fully reimbursed through programs such as the Yellow Ribbon GI Bill program?

Yes, you can still apply for the Bannan Scholarship and participate in the Bannan Scholars Enrichment Program; however, you would not receive the $6000 in scholarship funds.  Total financial aid awards cannot exceed tuition.

What is the Bannan Scholars Enrichment Program?

The Bannan Scholars Enrichment Program includes social, scholarly, and service activities recommended/ identified by the Bannan faculty mentor and selected/decided upon by the group.  The activities are based on student preferences and differ annually. The students form strong bonds within the cohort and encourage each other through their junior and senior years at SU.

What are service activities?

"Service activities" means direct, meaningful actions through organized community service efforts.  If you feel that additional information is needed to substantiate your service activity, please include an appropriate explanation on your essay application question.
