Former Associate Dean at UW's Foster School of Business Steps into New Role in July 2025

Dr. Daniel J. Turner is a Teaching Professor of Marketing and the Peter and Noydena Brix Endowed Faculty Fellow at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. He also serves as the Associate Dean of Master's Programs, overseeing strategy and operations for various graduate programs.

Dr. Turner has been part of the University of Washington since 1999. His prior experience includes roles as a lecturer at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and Board Chair and Executive Committee Chair of the GBC Roundtable. He has held positions in marketing management at Circuit City Stores and was also an analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

Dr. Turner has provided marketing consulting for multiple major brands including Intel, Microsoft, Wizards of the Coast, Getty Images, the Chicago Tribune, Knoll Pharmaceutical Company and Ameritech. These ranged from new product marketing to pricing strategy and customer insights.

Dr. Turner's research interests focus on student evaluation of teaching effectiveness, student learning and business school rankings. He has received multiple teaching awards, such as the PACCAR Award for Teaching Excellence in 2005 and various program-specific teaching awards.

A first-generation college student, his educational background includes a PhD from Northwestern University, an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a BS from Saint Louis University.
