Biography
Curt Malloy is the Senior Vice President, Strategic Operations at HDT.bio, a life science organization striving to promote health and well-being for everyone in the world, independent of where they live. HDT.bio is enabling technology that could advance a new generation of vaccines for neglected and tropical diseases; that same technology also may hold within it the capacity to reduce the burden of cancer metastases, which can be more deadly than the underlying disease. Curt leads HDT’s cross-sectoral engagement, where he partners with governments, non-profits and for-profit organizations to develop novel therapeutics.
Curt has held various leadership roles across the Seattle life science and global health communities. In his prior role of Chief Operating Officer at Cancer Research And Biostatistics (CRAB), Curt led a large team of data management, project management and central monitoring professionals – and he was on the leadership team of a Latin America initiative that was formed with the intention of providing clinical research training to regional physician scientists and promoting enrollment into the U.S. National Cancer Institute’s publicly funded clinical trials.
Prior to joining CRAB, Curt was the operational leader for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD). In addition to leading the Fred Hutch’s Seattle-based life science and data analytic operations, Curt was the President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Hutchinson Center Research Institute South Africa, a Board Member of the Hutchinson Center Research Institute Uganda and a Board Member of a Fred Hutchinson-China Joint Venture. Prior to joining the Fred Hutch, Curt served for ten years in various leadership positions at the Infectious Disease Research Institute, now named the Access to Advanced Health Institute (AAHI), ending his tenure there as the Senior Vice President of Operations and General Counsel.
Aside from teaching a course in global health in the Seattle University Masters of Public Administration Program, Curt has previously taught at the Seattle University School of Law and the Seattle University College of Nursing. He is the Treasurer of the global non-profit organization The Max Foundation (Max) and was previously Chairman of the Board of the Washington Global Health Alliance (WGHA).
Curt completed his undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Computer Science at Pacific Lutheran University, obtained a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and earned a Juris Doctor with a focus in intellectual property from Seattle University School of Law.
Curt is fluent in Spanish and is particularly passionate about Latin America, social and health equity and planetary health.
