Daniel Washburn, PhD

Daniel Washburn graduated with a degree in Religion from the University of Puget Sound before earning his doctorate at Stanford University in Religious Studies. Along the way, he studied at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies and Oxford University's Keble College. He specializes in the history and religions of the later Roman Empire. His published works center on tensions between the Christian church and the Roman state, especially in episodes of exile. Routledge Press published his book, Banishment in the Later Roman Empire, 284-476 CE. His most recent endeavor is a chapter on the letters of John Chrysostom. 

Dan enjoys fly fishing, being walked by his Great Dane, and baking. A transplant to the Northwest, he adores the Seattle life. Some of his favorite local activities include kayaking in Lake Union and eating donuts at Pike Place Market.
