Biography

Inés Miranda is originally from Nicaragua, Central America. She worked several years at the Universidad Centroamericana, the Jesuit University in Managua, as the Head of the Office of Cultural Affairs, and got a Bachelor of Arts in Translation from the same university in 1991. In 1992, Inés came to the United States to attend graduate school at the University of Washington, where she got a Master’s degree in Romance Linguistics and a Ph.D. in Linguistics. She has 20 years of teaching experience in the US. She has taught all levels of Spanish, Spanish linguistics, and theories of language acquisition and pedagogy of second language teaching to undergraduates and language high school teachers. Her academic interests are second language acquisition, and curricula and program articulation and development. She enjoys cooking and talking about Nicaragua. She came to Seattle University in January 2010.
