Personal Bio
Jot Yau is Professor of Finance at Albers School of Business and Economics. Since joining Seattle University, he has also served as Dr. Khalid Dibee Endowed Chair in Finance, Robert D. O’Brien Endowed Chair of Business Administration, George Albers Professor, Chair of Department of Finance, Chair of Department of Economics and Finance, and MSF program director. He has published over 80 articles and chapters in scholarly finance journals, books, professional handbooks, encyclopedias, and investment practitioner magazines. He is the coauthor/coeditor of three books, including the latest one on Dim Sum Bonds: The Offshore Renminbi (RMB)-Denominated Bonds (Wiley). He is currently a member of the editorial board of International Review of Accounting, Banking and Finance, and has served as associate and special editors, coeditor of special issue, and editorial board members for several scholarly journals. He co-founded Strategic Options Investment Advisors Ltd., a Hong Kong-based investment advisory, and served as its principal investment advisor and commodity trading advisor for eight years. He also served as the treasurer of the Northwest Hedge Fund Society, a member of the board of directors of Group Health Credit Union (GHCU), and members of the retirement plan investment policy committees for the Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services, and Seattle University. Previously, he worked for Independent Research & Consulting, Kidder Peabody, TRS Associates, Shearson/American Express, Shearson Asia Finance, and Dow Chemical, and taught at George Mason University, the University of Michigan – Dearborn, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and the Open University of Hong Kong. He holds a PhD degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, an MBA degree from the University of Toledo, and a B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) degree from the University of Hong Kong. He is a CFA charter-holder.
