Biography
Dr. Renita Newton is a native of Hammond, Louisiana, and she has resided in Corpus Christi, Texas for the past 8 years.
Dr. Newton earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health and addictions counseling in 2019, and she recently obtained her PhD, in counselor education, in the Fall of 2023, from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
Dr. Newton is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas, counselor educator, scholar-practitioner, social justice advocate, author, and certified sound healer.
Dr. Newton’s passions and research interest are central to mindfulness, self-care, women empowerment, and wellness-based practices that can help individuals minimize stress experienced in their daily lives.
Dr. Newton is committed to providing mental health and psychoeducational outreach support throughout Corpus Christi and surrounding communities, with an intentional emphasis on de-stigmatizing mental health care within historically marginalized communities.
