Biography
Dr. Springer is a Clinical Associate Professor for the Seattle University Online School Counseling program. Previously, Dr. Springer spent the majority of her higher education career at Monmouth University, completing her role as an Associate Professor in the Department of Professional Counseling in 2023. Clinically, Dr. Springer is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-NJ), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and certified School Counselor (NJ). In addition to her work as a music teacher in the schools, Dr. Springer spent 8+ years in the roles of school counselor and mental health counselor in a school setting prior to her university service. Currently Dr. Springer owns a private practice (NJ Counseling Connections) where she offers counseling, consultation, supervision, and professional development to clients, practicing therapists, supervisees, schools, and community partners. Dr. Springer had the honor of becoming a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF) from Dr. Brené Brown’s organization in 2020 and is currently in training enroute to becoming a certified Psychodramatist. Dr. Springer was previously the communications and newsletter co/chair for the North Atlantic Region Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (NARACES) and is currently Associate Editor for the Journal of Human Services Scholarship and Interprofessional Collaboration (JHSSIC) and reviewer for the Journal for Specialists in Group Work (JSGW)
Dr. Springer is a member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), New Jersey School Counselor Association (NJSCA), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), North Atlantic Region Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (NARACES), the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW). Dr. Springer publishes most often in the areas of counselor training, supervision, and group work. Two of her passion projects include school counseling texts published by Cognella, Inc., #IRLSchoolCounseling: An Introduction to the Profession (2023) and A School Counselor’s Guide to Small Groups: Coordination, Leadership, and Assessment (2nd Ed.) (2022), Most recently, Dr. Springer earned an ACES grant to investigate counselors’ training experiences with psychodrama. Outside of the university setting, Dr. Springer enjoys singing, watching Philadelphia sports, and spending time traveling and in nature with her husband, daughter, and son.
