I have been teaching at S.U. for over 25 years. I am originally from Alaska, where I first fell in love with the idea of field work and developed a lifelong interest in other cultures. I have studied archaeology, philosophy, theology and anthropology (all four fields) and continue to write and read in all those areas. My field work has stretched from Alaska throughout North America, Central America and South America, as well as the Middle East.

Here at S,U. I founded the anthropology program (minor and major components) and have been quite active in its development. My main areas of interest have been Indigenous Studies : Religions of Native America, Shamanism, Culture Change and Indigenous Epistemologies. My lifelong interest in human evolution and archaeology are also integrated into all of my work.
