About the Initiative
Seattle University’s College of Education received a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help address the shortage of diverse mental health care providers in public schools. Seattle University will use the five-year grant to support a project called the Puget Sound Partnership (PSP) to Expand and Diversify the Mental Health Service Professional Pipeline. The grant funding will assist COE School Psychology, School Counseling and Online School Counseling students with scholarships and other financial support. The recipients will work directly with students in local school districts.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an admitted student in Seattle University’s College of Education School Psychology, School Counseling or Online School Counseling programs. If you have not started an application to one of these programs, you can begin one here.
- Must be a U.S. resident – a requirement of the Department of Education.
- Demonstrated financial need as indicated by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for current academic year.
- Acknowledge the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
- The project will provide need-based partial tuition and stipends to graduate students in the project. Grant applicants should know that by receiving the tuition support, they agree to work in a high-needs school district for one academic year for each year that they receive tuition support.
