Housing Cancellation Fees and Deadlines
Upon receiving a housing assignment, if you are not required to live on campus (you’re a third-year, fourth-year or graduate-level student) you will be given an applicable grace period to cancel your housing assignment without financial penalty. If you submit a request to cancel your housing assignment after the applicable grace period and are approved, there will be a cancellation fee assessed. The cancellation fee will only be waived if the cancellation reason is due to not being enrolled at Seattle University for any period during the agreement time frame (these criteria include leave of absence, withdrawal from the university, study abroad and early graduation).
Exceptions to the Cancellation Fee Policy
If you request to cancel your housing assignment due to any of the following reasons, no cancellation fee will be applied:
- Transfer, Withdrawal, Leave of Absence or Hardship Withdrawal from Seattle University: If you are no longer actively enrolled at Seattle University, you will not be charged a cancellation fee. Please note that if you are suspended or expelled for disciplinary reasons, you will not be released from the financial obligations of your Student Housing Agreement. For mid-quarter withdrawals, you will have your housing and meal plan charges prorated based on your occupancy period.
- Graduation: If you graduate during the academic year, you will not be charged a cancellation fee.
- Academic Internship/Exchange/Study Abroad: If you study abroad or participate in any Seattle University-sponsored program, you will not be charged a cancellation fee. Participation in Seattle University-sponsored programs will be verified administratively.
- Military Relocation: If you are relocated for United States military purposes, you will not be charged a cancellation fee. Documentation is required to verify this status.
Upon receiving approval of a Housing Cancellation request, you will be charged a pro-rated Housing and Meal Plan rate based on the number of nights of occupancy.
