The governor is the latest guest of the Conversations speaker series.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson, who took office in January after his convincing election victory in November, will be at Seattle University Thursday, April 3, 1:30 – 2:15 p.m., in Pigott Auditorium. The topic of the event is, “Rise of the Governors: Navigating Contrasts, Chaos and the Constitution.”
Gov. Ferguson will be on campus as a guest of SU’s quarterly Conversations speaker series in partnership with Seattle Channel. Seattle University Professional-in-Residence and longtime Seattle journalist Joni Balter will lead the discussion along with Master of Public Administration student Andres Recart Restovic.
“This program will be about getting insight into the governor’s ever-expanding to-do list this year,” says Balter. “In addition to pushing more ferry boats out onto the water and finalizing a budget in a challenging year, our state also must respond to the federal government’s constantly changing policies.”
There is no shortage of public policy and political areas to probe with the governor and the conversation should be illuminating and wide-ranging.
The potential questions are endless such as how is Gov. Ferguson approaching his new role in Olympia? What does he think of the rising profile of governors nationwide, in places like Illinois, Pennsylvania and Colorado? What should bipartisanship look like?
“I am very excited to learn about Governor Ferguson’s agenda for the state and how we as Washingtonians can work together in an ever-changing political landscape,” says Restovic. “Governor Ferguson has a herculean task of bridging myriad policy gaps and I can’t wait to hear his plans.”
