At the International Dinner, experience the world through music, culture and cuisine.

Seattle University’s International Dinner—one of the year’s most anticipated cultural events—has long been a cherished tradition, bringing together the campus and broader community to celebrate cultural diversity through food, music and performances. This year the 48th Annual International Dinner, on Saturday, February 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Campion Ballroom, invites attendees to experience the it all through the theme “Rhythm of the World.” Presented by the International Student and Scholar Center, It’s an evening where global traditions come alive, offering a unique opportunity to come together in celebration.

The theme was inspired by the way music connects people across borders, creating an immersive experience where guests can feel the rhythm and energy of different cultures. As Hans Christian Andersen once said, “Where words fail, music speaks.” The event organizers hope to create an unforgettable evening where guests can soak up the energy from different cultural expressions and appreciate the diversity within the SU community.

The entertainment lineup promises to be a highlight of the evening, featuring both on-campus and off-campus groups. There will be performances by Hidaka Taiko, known for their powerful Japanese drumming, alongside acts from the Indian Student Association, South Asian Student Association and MEChA, each bringing their own unique traditions to the stage. A special African dance performance from an off-campus group will further enrich the evening’s cultural showcase. Beyond performances, attendees can engage in interactive games.

A key highlight of the event is the dinner, with a diverse and carefully curated menu, bringing flavors from around the world to the table. This year’s lineup features dishes including babsa, chicken mayo, onion uttapam and mango lassi, each representative of a different corner of the world. More than just a meal, the menu offers a chance to experience global traditions through food, with these featured dishes being just a preview of the full spread awaiting guests.

To add to the experience, a photo booth inspired by this year’s theme will allow attendees to capture memories and share the evening’s moments. Guests are also encouraged to wear traditional attire, contributing to the vibrant and immersive cultural atmosphere.

With an expected attendance of up to 250 guests, the International Dinner remains one of SU’s most anticipated events. To secure a spot at this unforgettable celebration of global traditions, purchase your tickets today.
