Programs offered by the College of Nursing are accredited by the following commissions.
Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing/Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Seattle University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Post-Graduate Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Certificate programs are accredited through December 31, 2030.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs are accredited by CCNE through December 31, 2032.
Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)
The Seattle University, College of Nursing, Nurse-Midwifery, Doctor of Nursing Practice program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME), 8403 Colesville Road, Suite 1550, Silver Spring, MD 20910; 240-485-1802, www.midwife.org/acme. The Midwifery program is accredited through October 31, 2031.
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
The Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Ultrasound program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). The curriculum content is based on the Standards and Guidelines set forth by CAAHEP and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS). Handbooks and Learning Outcomes
Eligibility for Nurse Technician positions, licensure, and national certification
Undergraduate nursing students who have completed NURS 3405 (Health Assessment and Interventions) and NURS 3191 (Promoting Health of Older Adults-Clinical) and APNI to DNP students who have completed NURS 5041 (Foundational Concepts and Skills for Nursing Lab) are eligible to apply for a Nurse Technician license in the State of Washington.
Traditional and Transfer BSN students as well as APNI to DNP students who (1) complete a program of study based on the AACN BSN Essentials, (2) fulfill pre-licensure clinical hour requirements, and (3) meet Seattle University College of Nursing BSN Student Learning Outcomes are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam.
DNP and post graduate APRN certificate programs prepare graduates for national certification exams for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Seattle University has not made a determination that the College of Nursing curriculum meets educational requirements for licensure/certification outside of Washington State. We encourage students who plan to work out of state to check relevant local licensure/certification requirements.
