Tell us a little about yourself, hobbies, passions, or other details you’d like to share.

My name is Emmee Michler, and I work for Seattle University’s College of Nursing. I started my career here as the administrative assistant for the Clinical Performance Lab and have since transitioned to support the undergraduate programs team, focusing on our Bachelor of Science programs in Diagnostic Ultrasound and Nursing. In addition, I also assist the Director of Budget and Operations with administrative duties. During my free time, I enjoy learning and cooking a variety of Filipino dishes and going on long walks with my family.

You’ve been at SU for a few years as a staff member. Can you tell us about your role and what brought you to the SU College of Nursing?

Before coming to Seattle University, I worked in the aviation industry for many years. Through my travels and experiences working with diverse groups of people, I had the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of various cultures, lifestyles, and traditions. My next adventure brought me to a Catholic school in Renton, WA, where I served as a school librarian. It was wonderful to work with students, watching them grow and seeing the excitement in their eyes as they opened a book. I share this life with my husband, Greg, our two wonderful daughters, and our energetic retriever, Blue. Faith and service have always been integral to raising our family, from organizing community suppers to holiday events. I feel these experiences have led me to Seattle University.

What has been one of your most rewarding experiences while working here?

One of my most rewarding memories at Seattle University is attending Scholarship Day. This academic event highlights student research on specific health care topics. Students collaborate with their peers and present informative and vivid posters at the end of their programs, right before graduation. Family, friends, faculty, and local community partners join in this exciting day, showcasing our students’ hard work and dedication and celebrating their accomplishments!

What advice would you give to students looking to make the most of their college experience?

If I could offer one piece of advice to students, it would be to find something positive in each day and see it as a gift and blessing.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

Seattle University provides students with a life-changing education that focuses on the whole person. Our Jesuit mission is deeply ingrained in all aspects of how we serve and educate students. I am excited to see our future nurses bring innovation, justice and equity in health care. I look forward to the wonderful things ahead for our university and the College of Nursing.
