RGIC Goals

Seattle University's Roundglass India Center is an interdisciplinary center focused on the study of contemporary India and Indian Americans. Founded in 2023, the Center's key goals are to:

  • Educate:As a university center, we are uniquely positioned to offer evidence-based knowledge and critical discourse that educates our community. We use our platform to host high-caliber speakers on key topics of interest to Indian Americans to promote positive change.
  • Connect: We create opportunities for cross-cultural learning and exchange to promote international cooperation between India and the United States in areas such as education, health, and industry. Our programs develop culturally competent students and leaders from both nations.
  • Give Back: As a non-profit organization, we are committed to the values of justice and serving others, especially in India and the U.S. Our philanthropic programs, such as scholarships to Indian students and Access to Justice project in Punjab, aim to uplift both India and the United States.

Sital SetuThe Roundglass India Center is an interdisciplinary center focused on the study of contemporary India and Indian Americans. Founding Director Sital Kalantry, an expert on comparative law and human rights, has studied and written about two of the world’s largest democracies—India and the United States—for over 20 years.

Sunny Singh Albers

The Center was created by a generous gift from the Roundglass Foundation, founded by Sunny "Gurpreet" Singh, the founder of Edifecs & Roundglass, and a philanthropist whose work is transforming the lives of millions of people in India.

The Center was born out of conversations Sunny and Sital Kalantry had about the urgent need to disseminate accurate and nuanced knowledge about India in the United States, and to encourage greater civic and philanthropic engagement among Indian Americans.

As a Center based in one of the largest private universities in the Pacific Northwest, we are uniquely positioned to train the next generation of leaders about India and to bring rigorous, evidence-based research into public dialogue about India.

Desi Roots & Routes wins Signal Award

The Center's original podcast, Desi Roots & Routes, has been honored with a 2025 Bronze Signal Award in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category.

Hosted by Professor Sital Kalantry, Desi Roots & Routes explores the journeys, identities, and contributions of Indians and Indian Americans shaping today’s world. Each episode features thought-provoking conversations with leaders across sectors—from law, politics, and business to the arts and public health—revealing how personal stories intersect with broader questions of migration, belonging, justice, and cultural exchange.

This national recognition celebrates podcasts that elevate diverse voices and perspectives across race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, neurological differences, and socioeconomic background. The honor affirms the India Center’s mission to educate, connect, and give back by amplifying diaspora stories and fostering deeper understanding of the Indian and Indian American experience.

Innovation AwardIn 2024, Seattle University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion recognized Roundglass India Center with an Inclusive Excellence Innovation Award. This award honors a team that has brought an exceptional innovative and creative approach to inclusive excellence work.
