Biology Equipment and Resources
Our specialized facilities and laboratories provide valuable first-hand experience with technology that will position you for success in your career.
Deepen Your Exploration of Life’s Mysteries
When studying biology at Seattle University, you will be using the latest equipment and modern scientific instruments. Our programs emphasize hands-on learning—in fact, 85 percent of our biology courses have integrated hands-on lab experiences.
Biology Facilities
Picture yourself in our modern learning facilities. Below, you can see a sampling of the resources available for your studies.
The brand-new Sinegal Center serves as home for the Department of Biology. The building opened in the fall of 2021 and our department features:
- Biology labs for classroom instruction and student research with faculty
- Private and group study spaces
- Teaching laboratory spaces dedicated for: microbiology, cellular and molecular biology, ecology and field biology, biotechnology and biochemistry, organismal biology, anatomy and physiology, and our introductory biology courses
- Tissue culture facility
- Microscopy suite
- Specimens room
- Walk-in climate-controlled spaces: environmental chamber, marine environment and cold room
- Mudroom
- Electron microscope lab complex, including dark room
- Greenhouse
