Civil and Environmental Engineering Scholarships
Scholarships are available for both incoming and continuing students completing graduate or undergraduate studies.
Student Scholarships
Financial support empowers students to experience college life more freely.
The College of Science and Engineering is a great place to begin exploring how you can make academics more affordable. We offer financial aid and work study opportunities, as well as several scholarships available for both incoming and current students. You can learn more about those awards here.
Additionally, external organizations and foundations provide funding for our department. To assist in your scholarship search, we’ve compiled a list of links offering more details about various financial awards for undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
For Undergraduate Civil Engineering and Environmental Science Majors
Most of these scholarship opportunities fund tuition based on academic performance. However, other criteria sometimes fulfill requirements, such as financial need, career objectives, leadership skills, school activity participation and community service.
For Graduate Programs
Students seeking to advance their careers often consider graduate school. Students with undergraduate degrees from all our department’s programs have gone on to both master’s- and doctoral-level work. Master’s degrees typically last one to two years and include a combination of coursework and research. Doctoral or PhD programs usually require four to six years of coursework and extensive research.
For Professional School Programs
Both of our department’s bachelor's degrees can be great preparation for professional careers outside traditional civil engineering and environmental science. These include careers in public health, business, law, information technology and even healthcare-related professions such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or veterinary medicine. Earning one of our degrees can really make a professional school application stand out. Our students are also well prepared to develop careers in science teaching at the high-school level.
Typically, advanced degrees in such programs do not offer scholarships or stipends. However, financial support opportunities do exist, and you can learn more about health-related professional school programs at the Seattle University Pre-Health Advising Center.
