General Information – SU Scholarships for Graduate Programs

All admitted applicants are considered for Seattle University Graduate Scholarships based upon a holistic review of all information received in the application process and available funding, including the answer to the optional question asking you to state any special personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance. This question is embedded in the application itself. No separate materials or documents are required.

Awards are renewable for multi-year programs based upon satisfactory progress toward degree completion. Scholarship amounts are based upon full-time enrollment of minimally 6 quarter credits per term. Students taking less than 6 quarter credits will have their award amount pro-rated accordingly.

Graduate Assistantships

Students may apply for a Graduate Assistantship by including a resume with their program application.  Each position is paid $21.67/hour for 20hours a week during the academic year. Students who meet the following minimum criteria are eligible:

  • Acceptance into the Master of Science in Kinesiology graduate program.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Completion of required undergraduate coursework. Those prerequisites can be found on the admissions page.

Graduate Assistantship Position Roles and Responsibilities

Students may apply for a Graduate Assistantship by including a resume with their program application.  Each position is paid $21.67/hour for 20 hours a week during the academic year. Students who meet the following minimum criteria are eligible: Acceptance into the Master of Science in Kinesiology graduate program, minimum 3.0 GPA and completion of required undergraduate coursework including Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, and Sport/Exercise Psychology or Psychology

  • Assist with research related tasks which include using laboratory equipment to conduct various research studies, collection of data in the field, cleaning data, analyzing and interpreting data. 
  • Completion of writing tasks relevant to the various research projects. 
  • Presentation of research findings. 
  • Assist HPL lab manager with laboratory courses. 
  • Assist with marketing and recruitment of the Kinesiology program. 
  • Help to plan, coordinate, and communicate departmental events to students and the community. 
  • Work with the department faculty on various community engagement projects  
  • Complete tasks for the program coordinator as needed. 
  • Assist with research related tasks that include designing research studies, collecting data, cleaning data, analyzing, and interpreting data. 
  • Completion of writing tasks relevant to various research projects.  
  • Presentation of research findings.  
  • Assist with teaching responsibilities by serving as a teaching assistant for laboratory courses.
  • Assist with research related tasks that include designing research studies, collecting data, cleaning data, analyzing, and interpreting data. 
  • Completion of writing tasks relevant to various research projects. 
  • Presentation of research findings. 
  • Assist with teaching responsibilities by serving as a teaching assistant for laboratory courses. 
  • Position will directly report to Master of Science in Kinesiology Program Director
  • Work directly with and will be primarily responsible for all strength & conditioning related activities for 2-3 NCAA DI athletics teams.  
  • Complete educational curriculum as it relates to athletic performance coaching in the collegiate setting. 
  • Topics include programming, coaching presence, coaching methods, S&C career path, professional development, etc.
  • Assist Athletic Performance staff in day-to-day facility operations (scheduling, tracking/monitoring, cleaning, facility supervision, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with all staff involved in student-athlete wellness and experience (Athletic trainers, sport coaches, academic supervisors, sport administrators, etc.)
  • Necessary certifications for this position include: 
    • CPR & First Aid Certifications 
    • One or both of these nationally accredited strength & conditioning certifications: 
    • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) – NSCA 
    • Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) - CSCCa 
  • Assist with research related tasks that include designing research studies, collecting data, cleaning data, analyzing, and interpreting data. 
  • Completion of writing tasks relevant to various research projects.  
  • Presentation of research findings. 
  • Assist with teaching responsibilities by serving as a teaching assistant for laboratory courses.
