On October 21, 2022, leaders of major Lutheran institutions in the Pacific Northwest gathered for a Lutheran Summit hosted by Seattle University’s Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement.
Center Director and Spehar-Halligan Professor, Rev. Dr. Michael Trice and Advisory Council member Rev. Dr. Rick Rouse co-facilitated a stimulating day of conversation, discovery, and envisioning. The Hebrew Bible's Argument for Religious Diversity

The first five books of the Hebrew Bible, Genesis through Deuteronomy, are divided into 54 “portions.” One or two are read each week on a schedule followed (uniformly) by Jewish communities around the world.
The cycle began again with the first few chapters of Genesis the week of October 16th, then this past week we read the chapter that include the story of the Tower of Babel. (Continue reading here)

The Interfaith News Roundup is an aggregator of important religion and spirituality news in the world, and is a monthly feature in The Interfaith Observer (TIO) since 2011. Today TIO is at home in the Religica Theolab at The Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) at Seattle University.
Advancing Racial Equity with LaTosha Brown
On October 5th, 2022, LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter joined United Way of King County for an inspirational presentation about advocacy, voting rights and how we can all take action towards a just and equitable nation.
Panel at the National Council of Churches Unity Gathering
On October 9, 2022, the National Council of Churches held a unity gathering titled Meeting the Challenges of Public Theology Today. The panel was delivered to students around the country. CEIE Director and Professor Dr. Michael Trice was a member of the panel.

CEIE Webinar: Dr. Edward Donalson III – The #BlackLivesMatter Movement: Toward an Intersectional Theology
On October 13th, 2022, Rt. Rev. Dr. Edward Donalson III, a Pentecostal Bishop, led a virtual lunch on the #BlackLivesMatter movement, alongside Black Liberation and Womanist and Queer Liberation theologies. Dr. Donalson was joined by Rev. Terrance Taylor, Senior Pastor of the Breath of Life Seventh-day Adventist church in Inglewood, California, who moderated the webinar. Guest panelists included Rev. Dr. Vanessa M. Brown, Bishop Elect, and Bishop Joseph William Tolton.
Interfaith Sharing Series: Dharma Talk
On October 21, 2022, Buddhist Priest Rev. Taijo Imanaka spoke on “A Shingon Temple Responds to Present Day Challenges: War and the Precept of Not-Killing” at Seattle University campus and online.

Mahrukh Motofram – Leading Strategic Enhancement and Alumni Engagement with CEIE
Mahrukh Motofram's recent certificate at Seattle University in Non-Profit Leadership, her commitment to Seattle University alumni engagement, and her local to international service enables a specific position for enhancing the relationship of the alumni experience to CEIE’s programming and future certificate opportunities.
She will work with CEIE in strategic enhancement of these alumni relations, also in her capacity as a long-standing interfaith advisor and founding member of the Advisory Council member to CEIE.
