Dear SU Students:  As you know, Seattle University is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and equitable campus environment.  As part of this commitment and in compliance with federal law, the University maintains a Substance Abuse Policies and Prevention Program which it updates and disseminates to all students, faculty, and staff annually.

The Substance Abuse Policies and Prevention Program summarizes the University’s standards of conduct and local, state, and federal law surrounding the use and possession of drugs and alcohol.  It also describes the health risks associated with substance use and abuse, and outlines treatment options for those who believe they may be experiencing drug or alcohol-related issues.

Although required by federal law, the Substance Abuse Policies and Prevention Program is intended to be a resource for University community members.  Other resources relating to alcohol and drugs are available on the website for the Office of Wellness & Health Promotion and through Counseling and Psychological Services.

If you have any questions about the University’s Substance Abuse Policies and Prevention Program, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@seattleu.edu or Sarah Cox, Associate University Counsel, at scox1@seattleu.edu.

Sincerely,

James Willette, Ph.D.
Associate Provost & Dean of Students
