Supervisor Communities of Practice (CoP)

By: Staff Professional Formation Working Group

Communities of Practice (CoPs) are groups of people who share a professional interest, purpose or practice and regularly collaborate via agreed-upon channels. The Staff Professional Formation working group (part of Reigniting Strategic Directions) will be piloting a CoP for supervisors.

The goal is to generate interest and excitement about CoPs and to develop a venue for supervisors to learn from one another, share best practices and solve problems collectively. The working group will create a facilitator’s guide so that other CoPs can be formed for people on campus who have similar interests and roles. The guide will be a starting place for others to develop their own groups.

An upcoming listening session will be scheduled to review the results of the recent Supervisors CoP survey and answer questions from persons interested in joining one of the inaugural CoPs. In the interim, you are welcome to complete the CoP Survey so the working group can gather additional thoughts and ideas about this new practice. For more information, please reach out to Kit Morse.
