About this Program

Seattle University’s Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Post-Doctoral Certificate prepares experienced nurses and nurse practitioners who hold a doctoral degree to deliver holistic, evidence-based primary care in diverse settings. The program strengthens your ability to assess, diagnose and manage health concerns across populations while deepening your understanding of today’s complex health care systems.

Through an individualized plan of study based on your prior education and experience, you’ll gain advanced knowledge and hands-on clinical skills that prepare you for Family Nurse Practitioner certification.

Certifications

Graduates of Seattle University’s Post-Doctoral Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner are eligible to sit for the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB).

Post-Doctoral Certificate graduates will:

  1. Synthesize knowledge from nursing and other disciplines in the provision of evidence-based advanced practice nursing care.
  2. Demonstrate competence in an advanced nursing practice specialty.
  3. Demonstrate effective communication and interprofessional collaboration in the promotion of healthcare access, quality, and outcomes.
  4. Apply ethical decision-making in complex clinical situations.
