Priority Deadline

The priority deadline for Summer/Fall start applications is February 1 and Winter/Spring start applications is October 20.

Application Review Process and Timeline

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis through the final deadline or until the cohort is filled. Applying by the priority deadline ensures consideration for space in the cohort and consideration for institutional aid scholarships. Please note that the School Psychology program admits students every quarter. Deadlines for each start term can be found on the application timeline below.

  1. STEP 1

    Start The Process

    1. Research the School Psychology program to see if it’s right for you.
    2. Review the Admissions Prerequisites
      • Applicants will need to have completed one year's successful professional, educational or volunteer experience with school-age youth by the start of the program.
    3. Review Admissions Dates & Deadlines
      • The School Psychology offers two priority application deadlines, depending on what quarter you’d like to start in. Applying by the priority deadline ensures consideration for space in the cohort and consideration for institutional aid scholarships.
      • After the priority application deadline, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis through the final deadline, pending space in the program

    This is an opportunity learn about our program and gain insights into the admissions process as well as connect with our faculty/staff and get your questions answered.

  2. STEP 2

    Begin Your Application

    Once you start an application you will be able to save your progress and will not have to complete it all at once.

    The School Psychology application includes the following elements: 

    1. Personal Statement
      • One-to-two-page autobiographical statement indicating commitment to school psychology and social justice in schools, experience with children and adolescents, understanding of the school psychologist's role in K-12 schools and reasons for choosing the program at Seattle University.
    2. Résumé
      • Résumé reflecting at least one year's successful professional, educational or related experience with school-age youth.
    3. Two Recommendation Forms 
      • Two recommendation using the form supplied through the application. These should be from professional and/or academic sources (e.g., supervisor, professor).
      • Once you've started your application, you will add their email address and they will receive a link to the evaluation form. The form should only take them 15 minutes to fill out.  
    4. Bachelor’s degree or higher
      • Evidence of a four-year equivalent bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution. 
        • Post-Master's applicants must provide evidence of a master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution. 
    5. Minimum GPA
      • Post-Bachelor's Applicants: Minimum GPA of 3.00
      • Post-Master's Applicants: Minimum GPA of 3.25

      • Applicants with less than a 3.00 GPA might be considered for probationary admission and can submit an additional GPA explanation statement. Applicants with a non-graded bachelor's degree are required to submit a GRE/GMAT test score. 
    6. Required Transcripts 
      • Submit official or unofficial transcripts for your most recent coursework to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
      • Transcripts may be submitted electronically to  grad-application@seattleu.edu or mailed.
      • Once accepted to the program, students will need to submit official transcripts within their first quarter of enrollment.

  3. STEP 3

    Finish Your Application

    1. Submit your application
      • Make sure you hit “Submit” on your application. 
      • Submitted applications are only considered complete once all application materials have been received including your recommendation forms.  
    2. Group Interview
      • If selected, you will receive an email invitation to a group interview with School Psychology faculty and staff.

    Check Your Application Status

    1. Check Your Status
      • You can login here to check the status of your application anytime.
    2. Monitor your email
      • Make sure to regularly check the email you listed on your application for updates, including your admission decision.
      • Applicants should review the application timeline for information on when to expect an admission decision.
